Description

The HP 1820-48G is a smart-managed, fixed-configuration 48 port Layer 2, Gigabit Ethernet switch. It’s designed for small businesses looking for key features in an easily-administered solution.

The fanless J9981A switch includes 4 x SFP ports for fibre connectivity, making it ideal for office deployments. Installation options are flexible since the HP 1820-48G can be mounted on a wall, under the desk, or on a desktop. Please see the ‘accessories’ tab for the HP X410 1U Universal 4-post rack-mounting kit.

The J9981A Gigabit switch is plug-and-play out of the box, yet network operation can be fine-tuned through features available from a simple Web browser-based GUI, if necessary. Customisable features include VLANs, Rapid Spanning Tree, IGMP Snooping, link aggregation trunking, and DSCP QoS policies.

This model features the latest energy-saving capabilities, including Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) and idle-port power down.

Key Features
  • Customised operation using intuitive Web interface
  • Flexible deployment options including wall, under table, and desktop mounting

  • Fan-less switch for quiet operation in the office environment
  • Simple Web management suitable for non-technical users—through an intuitive web GUI
  • SNMPv1, v2c enables devices to be discovered and monitored from an SNMP management station
  • Port mirroring enables traffic on a port to be simultaneously sent to a network analyser for monitoring
  • Dual flash images provide independent primary and secondary operating system files for backup while upgrading
  • Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronises timekeeping among distributed time servers and clients
  • Manual network time configuration to enable settings in the absence of an NTP server
  • Default DHCP client mode allows the switch to be directly connected to a network, enabling plug-and-play operation.
(In the absence of a DHCP server on the network, the switch falls back to a default, fixed IP address).
